緣        起

一九七九年初，六十餘位旅居南加州學人於參加國建會之後，認為有彼此保持連繫、促進切磋和合作的必要，通過成立一學術組織，並命名美西華人學會 ( Chinese American Professionals Association )。

宗        旨

成 長 經 過

      本會之成立，有賴於國建會成員之熱心推動，僑學界精英鑒於學術交流之重要，陸續加入。會員來自南加州各地及鄰近各州。會員專業領域包括各學系教授、醫生、律師、工程師、會計師及銀行家等。​

本會每年舉辦學術研討會及年會。邀請中美專家學者研討國內外發展建設之相關課題，對促進國內外學術交流奠定良好基礎。更積極推荐傑出人才回國參加研討會、短期講學及長期返國服務，使儲備於國外之人才得以回饋國家建設。​

一九八四年六月，於洛杉磯舉行第一屆北美華人學術研討會。與會專家學者來自全球各地，約一千三百餘人。成效彰著。從此奠定每三年在海外舉辦華人學術研討會之模式。​

     卅餘年來，為本會擔任主講之人士包括：丁肇中、朱經武、李煥、陳履安、王建火宣、蔣彥士、錢復、徐賢修、連戰、沈君山、杜維明、李鍾桂、錢純、高育仁、余英時、孫震、李國鼎、高銘輝、王贛駿、于宗先、阮大年、秦孝儀、黃昆輝、梁國樹、張寶琴、席慕蓉、楚崧秋、徐小波、王覺民、姚舜、關中、魏鏞、陳世卿、高希均、蔣家興、鄧大量、黎昌意、陳長文、吳元黎、王松茂、徐立德、王永慶、黃世惠、余光中、石大成、侯家駒、朱唯幹、劉成威、千家駒、陶晉生、石齊平、林宗義、馬英九、劉兆玄、吳京、蔣震、鍾阿城、李歐梵、李黎、楊牧、胡金銓、吳宇森、楊世緘、Gil Garcetti、施啟揚、胡志強、陳博中、莊岳、洪冬桂、江萬齡、Gary Miller、David Dreier、張俊宏、辛旗、黃文雄、李昌鈺、嚴長壽、曾志朗、季淳、趙美心、吳玲瑤、黃韶華、王耀興、丘宏義、廖國男、劉雲平等專家兩百餘位。​

     近年來，國內加速民主政治改革，開放兩岸交流，本會為配合國內發展，曾於南加州舉辦國是座談會、研討會，以及兩岸交流研討會等，廣徵僑學界建言，提供國內施政參考。​

本會將繼續秉持上述宗旨，聯合各專業學術團體，發揮專業學術交流之目的，以回饋僑社，提升華人在美甚至全世界的崇高地位。


Mission Statement 

Recognizing the need to promote socio-economic, political, scientific, engineering, technological, and medical knowledge and its application, a non-profit organization named as the Chinese American Professional Society (CAPS) was founded in1979. The CAPS membership consists of Chinese American professionals in various fields including engineers, scientists, economists, physicians, lawyers, social workers, psychologists, sociologists, bankers, professors and other professionals.

The CAPS provides valuable opportunities for the Chinese American community to be enriched by a spirited exchange of opinions on important issues of the days as they impact Chinese Americans and people across the globe. 

For years,the CAPS has been actively promoting conferences and panels to enhance academic cooperation and stimulate discussion among professionals. The CAPS is also interested in establishing and supporting research, cultural, and educational activities to encourage peace and prosperity through professional and technical exchange programs and projects.
