美西華人學會第九屆高中11年級、12年級華裔學生獎學金及第三屆12年級學生助學獎學金即日起開放申請,入選者每人獎學金1500至2000元。

從本周末開始的美西華人學會2023年優秀華裔高中學生獎學金和助學獎學金申請,將在5月22日截止,以郵戳為憑。今年共設五名獎學金名額,其中三名不論家庭收入多寡,11年級和12年級學生均可申請,每人1500元。另外該會設立第三屆助學獎學金,以幫助有財務需要的家庭。這兩個名額僅限於家庭收入不高於聯邦低收入標準的12年級學生申請,每人2000元。

 

申請人需具公民或綠卡身份,品學兼優,熱心社區服務。主辦單位評鑑主要項目: 課外活動與社區服務,自傳論文,學業成績 (GPA3.0 以上)及領導與才藝。美西華人學會特別感謝社會各界和本會理事們長期慷慨解囊,為獎學金和助學獎學金捐款。頒獎典禮將擇日舉辦。

CHINESE AMERICAN PROFESSIONALS ASSOCIATION (CAPA)

PRESENTS

THE 9th ANNUAL CHINESE-AMERICAN STUDENTS SCHOLARSHIP

 

THREE SCHOLARSHIPS:  $1500 EACH

Deadline: MUST be postmarked by May 22nd, 2023

 

QUALIFICATION:

Chinese American Professionals Association is accepting applications for scholarships.  Candidates must be juniors or seniors of ethnic Chinese heritage attending a high school located in Southern California who are in good academic standing, have strong leadership skills, participate in a variety of extracurricular activities, and provide services to the Chinese and /or other Asian American Communities. Successful candidates are required to show U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status.  We invite those who meet the qualifications to apply.  Extra considerations will be given to students with unusual talents in sports, art, and music. Previous CAPA scholarship winners are not eligible to apply.

 

Please apply to only one of the scholarships offered by CAPA in 2023. You can only apply for this scholarship or the financial-need based scholarship (see other form). Please do not apply to both.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA:

 

  1. A panel of impartial judges will evaluate applications based on a list of criteria weighted as follows:

                        Community Service                20% (Letters or certificates attached)

                        Personal Essay                        10%

                       Academic Achievement          40% (Minimum GPA 3.0.  Transcripts  attached)

                       Leadership/Talents (sports, art, music, etc.)  30% (Documents attached)

 

   2. Entries not in compliance with the published guidelines or incomplete will be disqualified.

 

   3. Candidates may choose to submit their entries either in English or in Chinese.  All entries submitted in English must be typed.  Entries submitted in Chinese, including the composition portion, may be typed or hand written.

 

   4. Should reasons a winner become unable to accept the award, the scholarship will be awarded to the first runner-up.

 

HOW TO ENTER:

 

  1. On one 8 ½ ” x 11” sheet of unlined white paper, write an essay, doubled-spaced, of no more than 250 words describing your leadership activities, extra-curricular activities and your community involvement with Chinese and/or Asian American communities.  Elaborate your contributions to the benefits of your communities.  Print and sign your full name on the bottom of your essay.

 

   2. Applications and/or essays submitted in Chinese must be neatly handwritten or typed.  Print and sign your full name on the bottom of your essay.

 

   3. Furnish two letters of recommendation either in English or Chinese from people who know intimately your academic activities, community services and/or leadership skills or experiences.

 

   4. Submit a resume to show your leadership activities, extra-curricular activities and your community involvement with Chinese and Asian American communities.

 

   5. Submit a copy of ONE of the following documents: birth certificate, passport, or green card.

 

   6. Mail all your application, required documents, along with supplemental materials, if applicable, to:

   7. If you, or your family members are or know any member of Chinese American Professionals Association, you must disclose in your application.  Failing to disclose may result in disqualification.

   9. Winners will be notified in June.  Winners will be informed about the time and location of the award ceremony.  Chinese American Professionals Association will present certificates to winners.

   10. Once an application is submitted, the application along with all submitted documents, transcripts and etc. will remain part of the permanent documents of Chinese American Professionals Association.

   三 .  學業成績                   40%      (GPA3.0或以上,附成績單)

   四 .  領導與才藝               30%      (附證明文件)
